Following the Prime Minister’s announcement, on 23 March 2020, that all non-essential retail businesses were to close, we took the difficult decision to suspend our manufacturing and delivery operations. Whilst we were not obliged to do this, we felt strongly that it was the right thing to do in order to protect our staff and customers.
We have studied the government guidance documents issued on 11 May 2020 relating to COVID-19 safe working practices in factories, offices and in relation to construction work. Subsequently, we have incorporated these practices, to the best of our ability, into our working procedures, and based on our belief that we are able to offer a COVID-19 secure workplace, on 26 May 2020 we commenced a phased re-opening of our factory and offices, with reduced staffing levels and with enhanced levels of hygiene and social distancing.
All our staff are temperature checked daily before starting work and have been trained by our H & S consultants in COVID-19 secure procedures. Our factory is fully signed and floor marked to indicate social distancing requirements. Hand sanitisers, antibacterial handwash, wipes and sprays are made available to all employees and their use is continually encouraged. We are only admitting one customer at a time to our sales office and ask visitors to use the hand sanitiser upon arrival and stand behind a clearly marked line to protect our sales staff. Our site teams have been trained to minimise contact with clients and to observe 2m social distancing at all times.
